Teacher of the Year Program

Nominate a Teacher of the Year from your district!
Each year ESD 105 sponsors the Regional Teacher of the Year award. Now is the time to nominate a teacher from your district. This year, nominations from the public are due to districts by May 6. Districts can forward up to two nominees to ESD 105 by May 27, 2005.

An Overview of the Teacher of the Year Program

2006 Program Bulletin from OSPI - this outlines the timeline and guidance on the Teacher of the Year program. ESD 105 utilizes a selection committee with representatives from throughout our community to help select the ESD 105 Regional Teacher of the Year.

Tamara Steen, an English teacher for Mabton Jr. and Sr. High School, was selected as Educational Service District 105’s 2005 Regional Teacher of the Year. She then was selected as Washington State Teacher of the Year and one of four finalist for the National Teacher of the Year award.

Tamara Steen has 22 years of teaching experience - 21 of them at Mabton Jr. and Sr. High School. She teaches all levels of students - from remedial reading to Advanced Placement English - a program she helped establish for the school district. This year she took on the role of Literacy Coach for the district.
