The
safe transportation of our state's students is Pupil Transportation’s
primary concern. The Regional Transportation coordinator provides
essential services to 72 school districts in ESD 105, ESD 123, and
ESD 171, which covers all of Central Washington. We serve as a liaison
between OSPI,
school districts, and other state agencies and local governments.
Some of the
services we provide are monthly supervisor meetings which enables
the districts to participate and discuss what is happening in the
transportation industry. All of the districts are kept informed
of any changes and updates in the procedures required by the state.
Chapter supervisors meetings are the second Wednesday of
the month, from October to May.
The
September meeting will be Monday, September 10, 2007, at 9:00 a.m.
in the Yakima Room at ESD 105. This will be a supervisor's meeting
and RIDERSHIP training.
The
office has a video library and most of the videos are for the drivers,
covering all aspects of driving a bus. We also have two mechanical
buses (Buster and Barney) that the districts can check out and demonstrate
to the younger kids on how to be a safe bus rider.

Every
October the districts turn in their ridership information to get
their funding for the year. This office audits the ridership that
is turned in and assists the districts with any problems that may
have with this.
This
department was instrumental in developing, S.M.A.R.T. (Standardized
Mutual Aid Response Team) training, and C.S.R.S. (Child Safety Restraint
System) training. These trainings will be ongoing in an as needed
basis.
We
also provide extensive phone support to the districts and also district
visitations as requested.
Please
feel free to contact our office any time.
